Shredall asked to speak at the 3rd NAID Europe conference held in Amsterdam

Shredall’s Lloyd Williams has been asked to speak at the forthcoming conference where amongst the topics to be discussed is the way forward for the industry within Europe. With the introduction of BS8470, the British Standard for Confidential Waste Destruction in the U.K., the industry is now keen to move these standards on within Europe.

Should the British Standard be adopted by 5 member states it would be possible for it to then become European Law. This could have a major impact on the industry throughout Europe, similar to the impact that has been experienced within the industry in the U.S.A. with the introduction of HYPPA regulations.

Unfortunately within Europe there are far too many trade associations that have evolved from the traditional waste paper industry associations or security industries. However none of these are industry specific like NAID.

It is still widely thought that the Confidential Waste Destruction Industry in Europe should have a specific trade association to promote and market industry merits, growth and its adoption of standards and compliance. These things do take time to evolve however the increasing attendance at the NAID conferences suggests that possibly this is the way forward.
