Shredall achieve OHSAS registration for the 4th consecutive year…

 

Shredall is ever mindful of the need to protect its employees, customers and the public – but also its reputation. At times of great change, companies and individuals are particularly vulnerable, new machinery, practises or staff - each bring new hazards with different level of risk. For this reason Shredall is especially keen to put in place and maintain a robust Occupational Health and Safety Management System which will protect at all levels and reassure customers that Shredall is not just a quality company, but also a safety-conscious supplier with safe systems of working. It is this drive and commitment which has enabled Shredall to achieve certification across the three main standards – ISO 900:2008, OHSAS 18001:1999 (to BS OHSAS 18001:2007) and also ISO 14001.

 

Since 2007 Shredall and SDS have achieved registration to OHSAS 18001:1999 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and they have recently gained re-certification.

 

Shredall has identified the Acts, Regulations and Legislation applicable to the company that are set out in the ‘Register of Applicable Health and Safety Legislation’. In order to keep up to date with the regulations and legislation and to promote awareness and understanding of our legal responsibilities there are specific methods used which include – the use of a safety consultant (currently Derek Kendall from Griffin Safety). The use of health and safety websites, e.g. hse.gov.uk, fire.org.uk, nebosh.org.uk, netregs.org, rospa.org.uk and workplace law group. Instruction and advice from the local authority and also information contained in the ‘Register of Applicable Health and Safety Legislation’ being reviewed at management review and staff meetings.
