SDS attend PRISM 2011 and achieve Hole in One
Shredall Data Storage (SDS) Director’s Lloyd and Lucy Williams attended the annual PRISM International Conference this month, held at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Florida.
The thought provoking event featured industry education and networking in the areas of records and information management, confidential destruction, data protection and imaging and conversion services. Lucy commented, “A feature for 2011 included a tour of a records management facility in Miami, as well as access to the industry exhibition held in conjunction with the PRISM International Annual Conference which was fascinating”
The conference featured body language expert Janine Driver who helped unravel the mystery of interpreting subtle signals associated with buying, objections or gaps in communication. Driver has appeared on numerous television programs and is the author of the book, “You Say More Than You Think: How to Use the New Body Language to Get What You Want”. As non-verbal communication is such a critical part of sales and negotiation, Lucy and Lloyd found Driver extremely engaging.
Compliance and regulatory issues remain a core interest of members of the industry, especially SDS who have achieved accreditations in, BS7858, BS5839, OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SDS has also just been re-certification to BS OHSAS 18001:2009. The conference featured several sessions that explore such critical areas.
This year the 2011 conference featured an industry-specific tradeshow dedicated to products and services used in the industry which proved very appealing. An additional series of roundtable sessions provided a more in-depth view of how new products and services can help improve efficiency, manage risk and improve profitability.
Opportunities for networking are provided throughout the conference and always represent substantial value as members share problems and solutions with each other. Lucy quotes “Overall this year’s conference was a great success; we gained invaluable industry knowledge, learnt many new things and re-focused on existing business objectives.”
Lloyd added “Prism International conferences give SDS the best opportunity to meet up with industry peers and leaders whilst sharing ideas in a relaxed environment but also attending informative education sessions to keep us a breast of our ever changing industry.”
PRISM International conferences are known for their social events and so to kick start a busy few days of absorbing new information, this year’s Golf Tournament featured a “Million Dollar Shootout” golf event in which Lloyd outstandingly achieved a hole in one. A hole in one is a very rare kind of achievement in golf terms, which all professional golfers wish for, it is considered a once in a lifetime achievement by many people and does have its credentials. The chance of getting a hole in one at the Doral Golf Resort is probably a 500,000 to 1 chance and Lloyd’s exceptional accomplishment has now been registered with the U.S Golf Association – Congratulations Lloyd!
