An Update on Our Carbon Footprint Initiatives

An Update on Our Carbon Footprint Initiatives

Shredall SDS Group is proud to be carbon neutral. Verified by National Quality Assurance (NQA), a global certification organisation, we are PAS 2060:2014 compliant. Adherence to this standard means that we ticked all the boxes regarding the measurement, reduction and counterbalancing of greenhouse gas emissions.

Our continuous drive to develop and implement sustainable and environmentally responsible business practices underpins our PAS 2060:2014 commitment. We sustain this endeavour through our compliance and voluntary carbon offsets. This includes purchasing carbon credits, where the funds are used to back existing environmental projects, and being part of the Plant for the Planet Scheme. To date, we have offset a total equivalent of 1,240 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Carbon offsetting projects in 2025

Carbon offsetting enables individuals and businesses to counterbalance the CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions generated by their operations. This includes activities such as vehicle and energy use. Carbon credits help people at residential, commercial and industrial levels to compensate for their emissions. The money raised goes into green initiatives and operations that capture, reduce or eliminate carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, not only boosting climate accountability and compliance, but also helping to stabilise and strengthen the environment.

At Shredall SDS Group, our proactive team has already invested in carbon credits to offset our projected carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions for 2025. To realise our carbon offsetting, we purchased carbon credits for three projects. These are all showcased on the United Nations’ Carbon Offset Platform.

The wind power project in Tamil Nadu, India entails the erection of 15 wind turbines. These will generate 24.75 MW from renewable wind energy free of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Our second carbon credit contribution goes to the Balsio Hydel Project, a hydro-power generation plant in the Ravi Basin in India, which boosts the power grid with 21.95 GWh of clean energy. The Sichuan Miyaluo Hydroelectric Station in China aims to reshape the definitions of renewable energy. Using water from the Zagunao River, this hydro-power plant has a capacity of 15 MW via five turbines. All three projects improve the economic outlook in these regions while preserving the ecosystems and committing to the wellbeing of the planet.

Continuing with the Plant for the Planet Scheme

In 2023, Shredall SDS Group proudly partnered with the Plant for the Planet Scheme. This initiative is a worldwide movement with environmental restoration in the crosshairs through the planting of trees. This organisation and its partners aim to plant one trillion trees by 2030 – not a tall order if one keeps in mind that planting trees is a natural process that can be done on a global scale. The umbrella goal is to offset deforestation and counter the negative impacts on our environment. At Shredall SDS Group, our plant-for-the-planet strategy is ongoing. We have engineered our part with existing environmental challenges in mind.

Every time a new customer employs our services, we plant a tree for them. By doing so, we spotlight our shared responsibility for the planet and our commitment to eco-driven business practices. We share our mission to counter deforestation, foster biodiversity and campaign for global sustainability. Shredall SDS Group includes a commitment to plant 12 trees throughout the world on the different anniversaries of each of our customers. We also acknowledge this shared effort by awarding customers a Certificate of Achievement. To further confirm our environmental conscientiousness, we recycle 100% of shredded paper to minimise waste and our business’s carbon footprint. This is our pledge for 2025 and beyond.

Our net zero goal for 2030

At Shredall SDS Group, we are contributing to numerous initiatives to keep our carbon-neutral pledge and commitment to the environment.

Alongside environmentally minded decision-making, our team always keeps in mind our target of net zero by 2030. Through our practices and avid advocacy, we spread environmental awareness. We gather our customers under our environment-first umbrella and help them realise strategies that are kinder on the planet.
