Santa's little helpers...

Shredall SDS Group Chairman Lloyd Williams is President of the Rotary Club of Mapperley and Arnold. Since the young age of 30, Lloyd has been an avid member of the local Round Table and Rotary Club in his hometown of Nottingham.

Every year without fail at Christmas the rotary club collect on the streets of Calverton, Mapperley, Arnold and Carlton in Nottingham supporting the collections towards both organisations charity appeals. The ‘Float’ as it is referred to or ‘Santa’s sledge’ has seen many changes in the way collections have been made over the years and thankfully with the introduction of one and two pound coins many charities and individuals have benefited in the local communities.

For the last two years Shredall SDS Group has supported this initiative by lending one of our SDS Document Storage vehicles to tow the sleigh around the street or to shopping centres to add to the community spirit.

Rotary and helpers also appreciate that they are adding to the local community where elderly people can view the sleigh whilst listening to Christmas Carols outside their homes.

Last year they raised £7,500 which is incredible.

Lloyd comments “For many years I have dressed as Santa around the streets of Calverton for charity on Christmas eve. In the disguise as Santa everyone’s happy and joyful and generously give to the collection, however, I do find going for a pint after collection, not as many people are as interested in me unless a child recognises my boots!”
