Meet Denim our SDS Operations Manager

Tell us about your role at Shredall SDS Group

My role is to ensure the daily operations of the Document Storage and Scanning arm of the business are met by ensuring that delivery times and customer requirements are upheld, along with making plans and schedules for the Shredall SDS Groups future. This also includes responding to customers enquiries and queries, reviewing the workload and procedures for all staff members as well as complying with all the legislation required to perform our duties as responsible data handlers.

How long have you worked at Shredall SDS Group?

I have been working at Shredall SDS Group now for almost 10 years, I joined the company back in April 2011 for a two-week trial period to index files in Manchester for an insurance brokerage company. Once that project was completed, I moved around the company helping the shredding team destroy confidential data and spent some time in the scanning department until a permanent role became available within the archive storage warehouse.

Tell us a bit about yourself

My two main enjoyments are cooking and rugby. I’m a huge fan of Celebrity Chefs with some of my top inspirations being Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsey. You can often find me researching recipes or watching tutorials on how to make and prepare dishes or at training and matches for Mellish RFC. Another one of my passions is mental health awareness, especially surrounding the stigma in men seeking help when they need it. It’s shocking that one of the leading cause of deaths amongst men is suicide and their 40% less likely to seek help as they wrongly believe that asking for help is giving up.

What is your biggest achievement to date in and out of work?

It has to be becoming the SDS Operations Manager for Shredall SDS Group, the people I work with are some of the finest men and women I’ve ever met and it’s a real pleasure being their manager on a daily basis and build on the foundations that have been laid here at Shredall SDS Group. Out of work it would be becoming the 3rd team Captain of Mellish RFC, I joined Mellish RFC in March 2019 and helped their 2nd XV achieve promotion in the 2019/2020 season as well as captaining the 3rds.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the variety; no two days are ever the same. One morning you could be conducting box searches for a customer, another day you could be planning a job and resources for members of your team to collect boxes from as far away as Holland. As we always say being a family business means we care about our customers and each other. No matter how big or small the job we will complete it with the same level of professionalism and care than any other.

What are you looking forward to the most?

During 2021 we are undertaking the redevelopment of our first depot; this warehouse was built when I first joined the company back in 2011 and since then we have seen rapid growth in all areas of the business. By redeveloping it will allow us to increase the overall storage capacity of this depot from 220,000 boxes to appox. 350,000 boxes whilst remaining in our same Nottingham facility. For me this is very exciting as not only does it open up exciting opportunities for the company but it is also the first project that I will have an overview on as SDS Operations Manager.
