Mental health isn’t just one part of our lives—it’s the thread that runs through everything we do. From our physical health and financial stability to our relationships and daily routines, mental wellbeing shapes how we experience the world. For some, it’s not just important, it’s everything.
Despite growing awareness in recent years, a new survey from mental health charity Mind revealed a concerning shift. Public understanding and support for mental health are starting to decline.
This Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May), we’re reminded that the mental health system in the UK is under immense strain. And those who need support the most are often the ones with the least access to help.
Shredall SDS Group takes action during Mental Health Awareness Week
This week marks a proud moment for all of us at Shredall SDS Group as we take another meaningful step in supporting mental health.
We’re delighted to share that we’ve made a donation to Mind, the leading mental health charity in the UK. This contribution will help fund vital services, campaigns, and support for those experiencing mental health challenges.
But even more significantly, we’re thrilled to announce that our Marketing Manager, Charlotte Williams, has officially become a Mind campaigner.
"I’m incredibly excited to officially begin my journey as a Mind campaigner, representing Shredall SDS Group and standing up for mental health on behalf of our entire team."
As a campaigner, she’ll be responsible for:
- Lobbying politicians to prioritise mental health in policy and funding decisions
- Building local momentum for change in our communities
- Challenging stigma and making mental health something we can all talk about openly
- Responding to government proposals with our lived experiences and insights
- Contributing to Mind’s policy work, ensuring it reflects the voices of real people
Charlotte continues:
"At the heart of this campaign is a simple but powerful belief: every story matters. I’m proud to be part of this movement—and even prouder to bring the voices of Shredall SDS Group with me.”
Supporting our people every step of the way
At Shredall SDS Group, we know that a thriving business starts with a happy, healthy team. That’s why we go beyond the basics to create a workplace where our people feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow, both personally and professionally.
Our approach is rooted in our core values, which guide everything we do. From how we treat one another to how we serve our customers and communities.
Here’s how we make that happen
Open conversations about mental health
We encourage open dialogue around mental health and wellbeing. Whether it’s through regular check-ins, mental health awareness campaigns, or simply creating a culture where it’s okay to say “I’m not okay,” we make sure no one feels alone.
Taking time for breaks and social connections
Sometimes, a cup of tea and a chat can make all the difference. We promote regular breaks, social activities, and team-building events to help everyone recharge and connect.
Fostering a supportive and inclusive environment
We foster a friendly, inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong. By embracing diverse voices and perspectives, we fuel innovation and strengthen our connection to customers and communities alike.
Empowering success and growth
Your growth is our priority. From day one, we provide ongoing support to help you succeed. Whether you're looking to climb the career ladder or pursue further education, we’re here to back your journey every step of the way.
Promoting health through physical exercise
We care about your health and the planet. That’s why we offer the Cycle to Work Scheme, helping you save money on a new bike while promoting a healthier lifestyle and reducing your carbon footprint.
Recognising the achievements of our team
Hard work deserves recognition. Our employee recognition scheme celebrates top performers each month, sharing their achievements across the business and with our customers.
Giving back to our community
We’re proud of our role in the community. Through our CSR commitments, we support local businesses, students, and charities, and take part in national fundraising events. Giving back is part of who we are.
Prioritising mental health and support
Mental health matters. Our Employee Assistance Programme, provided by Health Assured, offers a 24/7 helpline to support our team through life’s challenges—big or small.
Championing work-life balance
We believe in work-life balance. That’s why, since 1997, we’ve offered early finishes on Fridays—a perk 87.6% of UK employees say they value most.
Additional holiday benefits
Everyone needs time to recharge. We offer great paid holidays, plus an extra day for each year of service—up to 25 days total, plus bank holidays.
Supporting working parents
We support working parents with childcare vouchers, allowing team members to pay for registered childcare using pre-tax income, saving on tax and National Insurance.
At Shredall SDS Group, we’re more than just a workplace. We’re a team that looks out for one another, and we live by our values every day. From wellbeing and development, to recognition and inclusion, we invest time and attention in our team, because when our people thrive, so does our business.
