Meet Robert our Business Development Executive for Scotland

Get to know our Scotland Business Development Executive a little better and find out what he hopes to achieve for the rest of the year.

Tell us about your role at Shredall SDS Group

My role is all about growing the business by meeting the needs of our new customers and helping them through this strange and challenging time. Answering any questions they may have about our shredding service in Scotland and surrounding areas and giving advice if they need it. You’d be surprised by how many people think our shredding machines are little office shredders!

When did you join the Shredall Scotland team?

I joined in October 2017, things have changed a lot since then. We have moved location and opened our own shredding depot, which means we can book in more services and shred at a much larger capacity. It was exciting to be apart of the big changes up here.

Give us a quick overview of your typical day in the office

I always start my day at 8:30 with a cuppa. After that it’s all about getting the diary busy for the week, booking customers in for a service and answering any enquiries we may have had through the website or phone calls. I always find time to have a laugh and joke with Karen who is our Scotland office and compliance manager.

What do you love about your job?

Mostly talking to new businesses and bringing them into the Shredall way of thinking. Helping them with their document management needs and best practices.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

My biggest passion is walking, I try to do at least 4-5 miles every evening after work. I’m extremely lucky to live in a beautiful part of Scotland with many amazing walks. I have little previous experience in the shredding industry, but I am proud to be helping the business grow and since 2017 learning more each year. I am proud of the recycling side of Shredall SDS Group, it’s great that we can contribute to the environment and ensure nothing goes to landfill.

What is your biggest achievement to date?

My biggest achievement was after a tough couple of years I managed to raise over £100,000 for Cancer Research and Marie Curie. By doing voluntary door to door fundraising all over Scotland. People can be so generous once you tell them your story, especially when one in two of us will be affected by this terrible disease. On the lighter note, it was a great experience and I had a great time fundraising.

Any plans for what we have left of 2020?

Mainly to strive and grow the business in Scotland. To continue to make sure we maintain our company ethics and values and provide an outstanding service. It’s been a strange year with Covid 19 and so hopefully the last few months will improve around the world.
