Compliance is the cornerstone of the document management industry. It reassures customers that their sensitive and confidential materials are in trusted hands. At Shredall SDS Group, we place the highest premium on our regulatory and standard compliance.
As an ISO-accredited business, we put in every effort to ensure we meet these internationally recognised standards year after year. During autumn 2024, our compliance department took part in multiple recertification and surveillance audits.
What is the ISO, and why is being accredited so important?
The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is a global institution that develops standards and best practices. The ISO develops international standards to ensure things are done in the best possible way.
ISO certification empowers businesses to forge consistent brand loyalty by gaining the trust of customers. This is the reason our compliance team goes to great lengths to perform well at our certification audits.
Our ISO certifications mean we stay on top of the latest industry standards and regulations. In 2024, several regulations and standards, such as BS EN 15713:2023 (focused on secure document and data destruction), changed significantly.
Our accreditations and what they stand for
At Shredall SDS Group, we are proud to hold various industry-leading certifications and accreditations that guide the work we do.
ISO 27001: Information Security Management
Compliance with ISO 27001 ensures cost-effective and operationally efficient procedures that safeguard confidential and sensitive information. Recertified in September 2024, Shredall SDS Group transitioned to ISO 27001:2022, which covers a broader scope of practices including privacy and cyber security.
PAS 2060: Carbon Neutrality Verification
This verification relies on annual audits to ensure businesses continuously comply with their carbon neutrality pledges. Shredall SDS Group was verified as PAS 2060 compliant in November 2024, having been assessed carbon neutral since January 2021.
PAS 2060 verification reflects a company’s carbon neutrality on the whole (such as Shredall SDS Group) or in uniquely identified areas. It signifies a stance against climate change and commitment towards net zero greenhouse gas emissions. Our green products and services also support the eco drives of our customers.
Our PAS 2060 verification goes hand in hand with our goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
Integrated Surveillance Audit: ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
In November / December 2024, Shredall SDS Group’s depots in Nottingham and Bellshill, Scotland participated in integrated surveillance audits. All departments were recommended for continued registration and found compliant.
-
ISO 9001: Quality Management – this assures our customers that our services are always of the highest quality.
-
ISO 14001: Environmental Management – environmental best practice at the heart of our business, recycling 100% of our paper waste as part of our environmental commitments.
-
ISO 45001: Health and Safety Management – occupational health and safety in our organisation is prioritised and consistent.
UKSSA: United Kingdom Security Shredding Association
We are a proud member of UKSSA. To retain our membership, we pass independent audits in line with the UKSSA code of practice every two years. Their accreditation is aligned to the BS EN 15713:2023 secure destruction standard.
We’re always proud to meet the highest industry standards
At Shredall SDS Group, we are immensely proud of the recertification of our multiple industry-leading ISOs and accreditations. Our compliance manager and DPO, Carole Woolhouse, said:
“2024 was a rewarding year for the Compliance Team as we continued to strengthen our information security and secure destruction accreditations. We have once again achieved a PAS 2060 verification recognising the work we’ve been putting in through our eco initiatives and ambitious goals. We’ve also been able to participate in an integrated surveillance audit to show how we’re staying on top of industry standards.
It is a testament to the whole Group, an in-house compliance team and the part that all staff play in driving forward continual improvement activities across the business. As Compliance Manager, I’m really looking forward to the ongoing compliance journey in 2025.”
