Welcome Kayleigh our Marketing Executive

Welcome Kayleigh our Marketing Executive

What is your background?

I was born in Bristol but have lived most of my life in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. I pursued business throughout school during my A Levels before completing my Degree in Fashion Marketing and Branding back in 2016 at Nottingham Trent University.

Why did you choose to study a Fashion Marketing Degree?

There are so many different Marketing and Business courses out there. I knew I didn’t want to take a straight marketing course as I wanted to differentiate myself from other marketing graduates. Fashion was always a strong interest of mine. I always thought to study fashion you had to study design. My degree has not just provided me with marketing knowledge but creative, branding and analytical skills.

What was your previous job roles?

I have worked since the age of 16 as I was always eager to earn my own money. During education I worked part time for various retail brands in fashion and hospitality. Since graduating, I moved to Oxford for a while where I worked as an Events Project Manager. Last year, I decided it was time to move back to Nottingham where I worked for a small firm in Derby as a Marketing Executive.

Do you have any hobbies?

I am a massive foodie, always looking for places eat and experimenting with recipes at home (I spend most of my time thinking about what I can eat next). I love to travel as most millennials do nowadays, I’m fortunate to have travelled quite a bit and I’m looking forward to Mauritius later this year. I also enjoy shopping and ballet on a Thursday evening.

Where’s the best place you have travelled?

That’s a hard question, there’s so many beautiful places. I think if I had to choose one it would be Sorrento in Italy; the view of the Amalfi Coast is something unforgettable. Obviously, the food in Italy is the dream! The best city I have visited is Barcelona.

What have you been up to so far at Shredall SDS Group?

It’s been very exciting, and fast paced so far, Shredall SDS group is growing massively so there’s lots to do. I’ve been working on growing their social media channels, producing E-Shots, writing blog/news content for the website and assisting in the marketing plan for the next financial year.

What do you enjoy about marketing?

Marketing is so important to the success of any business and the creativity behind it. Being a millennial, I have seen how digital has taken over almost every aspects of our lives with marketing being no different.

What’s your favourite social media channel and why?

Instagram is my favourite channel because it is image based and the most creative platform. With a high interest in fashion I use this platform to showcase my personal style and travel. It’s a great platform for inspiration. I use Twitter mostly for news and I rarely use Facebook anymore.

What are your marketing pet peeves?

  • Branding that looks outdated and that’s cringy- hard sales tactics don’t work as well as they used to
  • Brands that push out endless streams of content for no reason
  • Receiving too many emails from a brand with content that’s not relevant to you
  • Quantity doesn’t equal quality. Having a high number of followers or likes means nothing if they aren’t interested in you.

What are you looking forward to?

Growing Shredall SDS Group social media channels with fresh new content that adds value to our customers. Working on a couple new venture’s we have coming up- one being our takeaway coffee cup recycling initiative.

On a personal level I’m looking forward to getting married in Cyprus next year. I’m currently trying to sort all the logistics out.
