Tell us a bit about your role at Shredall SDS Group..
My role within Shredall SDS Group is varied and whilst my title is Scotland Office Manager and Compliance Representative, I would see it more as a champion of the vision of my peers. Managing the day-to-day office, ensuring work is carried out effectively and safely whilst ensuring we are doing everything possible to keep our staff covid safe. Cost savings, training, implementation and upkeep of company specific software, compliance, customer care to name but a few of the tasks that are carried out daily in my role. However, whatever needs to be done to make things happen are what is carried out by ALL the team not just by me.
When did you join the Shredall Scotland team?
After moving to a new house and writing speculative employment letters to the local companies I was fortunate enough to secure a role and join the Shredall Scotland team in January 2018.
What do you love about your job?
I love the challenges – everyone thinks an Office Manager role is easy, after all what do you do!! However when you are in the thick of it, I can tell you it is the most rewarding job you can do. Our team in Scotland are all on the same page – we want security and success and if we can achieve this with hard work and determination then we will fly. We have faced challenge after challenge since March last year, but we are still here and still fighting and will come out the other side stronger for it.
Tell us about yourself?
Well in a past life I made the finals of the Scotland Ladies Formula 1 Racing competition and my love for fast sport cars (and classic) has been inbred since a child and even took me on the road to selling advertising space in a national car magazine back in the day, which was fun while it lasted. Now I love DIY, socialising, walking, caving and just getting out in the fresh air with my most important people.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement whilst at Shredall SDS Group was being part of the team that were shortlisted as Finalists for Lanarkshire’s Best Family Business. We worked hard and were fortunate enough to make the finals, however due to COVID never got to the Awards Event but there is always next year.
In life my biggest personal achievement was climbing Ben Nevis. For most not a particularly challenging climb, however when you suffer from Asthma it becomes more and more challenging the higher up you go. This was all done to support the Heart Transplant Unit in Glasgow after they saved my Dad and extended his life for a few years.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am looking forward to the world returning to normal or as near normal as possible and hugging my family and friends. After that it will be all guns blazing to be part of the team to bring our vision to life and grow Shredall Scotland into an even more successful business.
