The Shredall SDS group was able to give a little back to the local community in Bestwood Village this past fireworks night by supplying St Mark’s church with old pallets to use as firewood for their bonfire.
We get through a lot of pallets in our day to day operations. Rather than letting them go to waste, it was a great opportunity for us to give them to a group of people who could make better use of them for a little while longer.
In a letter to Kerrie Reed, our Nottingham operations administrator who organised everything, St Mark’s Churchwarden Jack Ashworth wrote this:
“Many thanks to Shredall for the pallets which made up most of the village bonfire last Saturday.
“In particular, thanks to Kerrie for making all the arrangements and the two guys who delivered them to us at the bonfire site.
“Being able to rely on the wood for the bonfire was a great help, as it meant we could keep the site secure in the days leading up to last Saturday, which in turn ensured that we didn't get inundated with too much wood or get lots of unsuitable material dumped.
“The event itself was a great success with many people having a really good evening and we very much hope the arrangement with pallets might be possible again next year.”
Working with the local community in Bestwood Village, wider Nottinghamshire and around our other local branches is something that we’re looking to do more of as we move into 2018
