2017 was a big year for Shredall SDS Group. For our final news article before 2018, we want to mention some highlights that you may not have heard, as well as celebrate some of the stories that have stood out for us these past 12 months.
Some highlights you might have missed…
This year saw some big milestones for both the company and some employees, but we want to give a special mention to several of our staff. One of our drivers, Terry Smith, marked 20 years at the company in February. Hot on his heels are two other drivers, Rex Williams and Scott Pickering, who have both been at the company for 15 years this year. And at our Scottish branch, general manager Brian McCulloch saw his 10th year as general manager this year.
All of the team here is grateful for their loyalty and service to the company. Having employees who have done so much fantastic work for us for so long. Not every company is privileged enough to have such committed staff, and they’re a key part of the success we’ve seen over the past two decades.
Speaking of success, we’ve already seen record group sales figures in 5 out of 7 months in this financial year! And looking back on 2017, all of the management team is incredibly thankful to everyone at the company, across the UK, whose work has made it possible to deliver consistently excellent service to existing customers and to make us a group that other businesses want to work with.
Looking back on 2017
Throughout the year, we’ve covered many of the stories that have made 2017 so special. Here are some of our favourites.
We started off by celebrating our 20th anniversary in February - a fantastic milestone for our business. This is no small achievement given all the financial upheaval throughout the 21st century and we’re proud to have maintained our core values as a family business in that time.
To bookend the year in December, we’re also celebrating the 10th anniversary of Shredall Scotland on the 17th. The Glasgow office is a key part of the national reach of our business.
Continued ISO accreditation in a number of areas (9001, 18001 and 27001) was also an important achievement this year. Respectively, these accreditations show our commitment to quality management, health and safety standards and information security.
We were also proud to be finalists in the Nottingham Post Business Awards, the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards and the Glasgow Business Awards, showing the hard work that our teams in both locations are doing.
In addition, there were several staff appointments and changes over the course of 2017. We appointed Simon Linforth as a new general manager for the Nottingham office and Andrew Moss, a valued member of the company, is changing roles to become a non-executive director on our family board.
Last but not least, we’ve been thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved in a number of charitable projects and events this year. Funds raised out our 20th birthday party went to Nottingham charity Forever Stars, while later in the year we donated wood to a local bonfire night and cardboard to a big charity sleep out.
